Preston have signed Manchester United forward Danny Welbeck on loan until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old is Darren Ferguson's first signing for North End and he is likely to make his first appearance in Tuesday's trip to Peterborough.

Welbeck, who came through the United youth squad, has scored five goals in 24 games for the Premier League side.

Preston are currently 17th in the Championship, six points off the relegation zone.
